Donatela Hotel | Panglao, Bohol
The path to Donatela Hotel is so unassuming that if you don’t pay enough attention, you just might miss it. A little ways from the popular beach strip of Panglao, and just off the main road, is a quiet path that leads to a secret garden. Staying in Donatela is literally staying in a garden of flowers—a 7-hectare garden with pleasant surprises around every corner.
Formerly known as Tarsier Botanika, the idea for Donatela Hotel came from their previous owners, a couple who loved to travel. And it shows in all the minute details of the resort: from the garden sculptures that bring you to Bali, to the Asian design touches in every villa, to the Nuxe bathroom products that guarantees only luxurious baths, and to the intercontinental cuisine served at the hotel’s cliffside dining restaurant, Paprika. Despite the wild mix of different cultural influences, everything blends together organically.
It’s also worth noting that Donatela Hotel puts in the work to be eco-conscious. The hotel began by using sustainable Mahogany wood for their villas, as well as by installing solar power and low level LED lighting throughout the resort. They also have a reverse-osmosis water treatment system and proper sewerage treatment plan. Herve Martin, the resort’s GM, says that they are constantly trying to find other ways to lessen their negative footprint. Each villa was designed to let as much natural light inside, you can keep those lights off, and enjoy the natural beauty right outside.
